Meet your Physical Therapist:
Dr. Nyssa Midden
Hi! I’m Nyssa, the founder and lead physical therapist at Flowstate Physiotherapy. As an avid runner and hiker, I understand that being active isn’t just about exercise, but it’s what keeps you balanced and feeling like yourself.
When I'm not treating patients, you'll probably find me running along the Charles, hiking New England's trails, or walking my dogs, Sunny and Boba, around our neighborhood with my husband Nick. Like many of my patients, I juggle training with a busy life, and I know firsthand how frustrating injuries can be when they get in the way of doing what you love.
I grew up in southern Illinois and graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Bradley University in 2017. I spent the first six years of my career as a travel PT - I worked at different locations throughout the country helping individuals from all walks of life with a wide range of injuries, learning from incredible clinicians along the way. During this time, I became a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and had additional training in running related injuries and pelvic health. But more importantly, I developed an approach that combines evidence-based treatment with real-world understanding.
I moved to Somerville, MA full time in 2022, which is when I opened Flowstate Physiotherapy. I started Flowstate Physiotherapy with the goal of being a guide for the everyday athlete to help them navigate pain, optimize recovery, and to help reduce injuries in the first place. I believe that physical therapy should be more than just treating symptoms – it's about building lasting strength and resilience and teaching clients what they need to know to stay healthy. I'm excited to be part of your journey and help you find confidence in your movement.
